Senior Logistics Manager Nick L.
I’ve always had a "find the road to yes" mindset and that is what DS is all about.
My DS Story
I first learned about DS through my prior role in the hospitality industry. I could tell that it was in an environment that aligned with my values and workstyle. I’ve always had a “find the road to yes” mindset and that is what DS is all about – it’s a team of creative people who work together to find solutions.
My Typical Day
Working at DS has transformed my idea of a typical work week. I’m part of the team that oversees travel and logistics, which means that every day brings something new—a fresh challenge to tackle, which is exactly what drew me to DS after spending most of my career in hospitality. No two days are alike at DS, and that’s precisely why I love what I do.
My Future
In the two years since I joined DS, my role has evolved and expanded. I now lead the travel team, and it’s been rewarding to help reshape our approach to logistical services to benefit the company and our thousands of employees. DS has become more than a workplace to me—it’s where I find satisfaction and envision my long-term future.
"They care about taking care of each other, and they are committed to excellence."
Program Director Hector Z.
They care about taking care of each other, and they are committed to excellence.
My DS Story
Deployed Services sparked an interest in me because they were clear about wanting to go about their work in the best way possible, by bringing together people that bring different talents to the table and creating a supportive atmosphere that encourages ideas and is always looking for ways to do things better. This was exactly the sort of thing I wanted to do.
My Typical Day
As program director, I provide oversight to all the different departments on-site. I also spend a lot of time on leadership development, which is a passion of mine. I feel that I have a responsibility to help rising leaders understand how to provide the right kind of support to staff that develops trust and skillsets.
My Future
The two things I like most about Deployed Services today are the same things I loved when I first joined the company: They care about taking care of each other, and they are committed to excellence. There is a saying at DS, that we don’t fail – we succeed, or we learn. This mindset has created an atmosphere where I feel safe to try some new things to make us better.
"As a military spouse, I’m grateful to have a rewarding job where I can work remotely."
People Operations Supervisor Rosalena W.
As a military spouse, I’m grateful to have a rewarding job where I can work remotely.
My DS Story
I stayed home with my children when they were young. My career is important to me, and I didn’t want to lose that part of me. In the past, I worked with a non-profit that helped trauma patients. I knew I wanted to work again where I could help make a positive difference in people’s lives. I found what I was looking for at Deployed Services.
My Typical Day
I help new hires with their onboarding and support job candidates through the vetting process. I like that no two days are alike. When I was growing up, as a military brat, we moved a lot from place to place. I joke that sometimes my workdays are like that, moving from one project to another!
My Future
I’m about to finish my master’s degree in human resources and development, and I hope to put some of the skills I learned in school to use here. As a military spouse, I’m grateful to have a rewarding job where I can work remotely, since I move every few years.
"I’m learning different skills that will help me grow for anything I plan to do in the future."
Security Ricardo S.
I’m learning different skills that will help me grow for anything I plan to do in the future.
My DS Story
Before joining Deployed Services, I was on a mission with the National Guard, but I also worked security for a state courthouse. Although this is a private company, the security team here is structured and orderly which, as a member of the military, is something I am used to and value.
My Typical Day
I manage guards at one of the sites. I check in with the team throughout the day to make sure everything is going smoothly and that we are delivering the security services that our customers need. It’s important to me that my team members get to know each other, so I also try to find ways to build that bond.
My Future
I still serve in the National Guard, but here I’m learning different skills that will help me grow for anything I plan to do in the future. I’m taking advantage of the opportunities to grow on the job through hands-on training. Right now, I am looking at taking the company’s CPR and fire safety training courses.
"I’ve found great mentors here, and my co-workers and I are a true team, helping each other out."
Operations Manager Larissa S.
I’ve found great mentors here, and my co-workers and I are a true team, helping each other out.
My DS Story
My first job with Deployed Services was as an administrative assistant. Although this was my first job in a business environment, my supervisors were willing to take a chance on me. They saw how my life skills could benefit the company, even though I didn’t have previous experience in this type of role.
My Typical Day
You’ll usually find me working with different departments to help them integrate policies that help us all do our jobs better and more safely. I‘ve found great mentors here, and my co-workers and I are a true team, helping each other out. I work hard, but I can see the impact I’m having, and that feels good.
My Future
I take college courses online, and my time at Deployed Services has inspired me to change my college major to focus more on business and management. My hope is to stay with this company for a long time.
"It feels good to be part of a team that comes up with solutions that help things run more smoothly."
Housing Manager Daisy C.
It feels good to be part of a team that comes up with solutions that help things run more smoothly.
My DS Story
I worked in the hotel industry for fifteen years. I had a good, regular schedule, but I was ready to take on bigger challenges. I’ve always loved a good puzzle, and I think about my job here like that. I look for systems and challenges that can be improved or solved, and then get to work. It feels good to be part of a team that comes up with solutions that help things run more smoothly.
My Typical Day
Throughout each day, I keep an eye on housing and housekeeping issues, to make sure the teams have what they need and understand what we are focusing on that day. There are a lot of logistics involved, so it’s important to keep things running as smoothly as possible.
My Future
When I was younger, I didn’t have a mentor to help me learn the ropes at my jobs or teach me new skills, so I try to be that mentor to others. I like to encourage the people on my team to try new things. I don’t push people, but I do try to present new opportunities, so they have an option to grow in their jobs. It’s a great feeling to watch someone succeed at work, and I want to keep helping make that happen.
